About Me - Christian Aspinwall

Hi, I’m Christian Aspinwall — IT pro by day, martial artist by night 🥋

If you’re here, you probably care about networks and firewalls… but first, let me confess: I once accidentally rebooted a production server while testing a PowerShell script. (Don’t worry—I stayed up until 3 AM fixing it, fueled by cold pizza and Breaking Benjamin.)

🤖 Tech Journey: From Game Mods to Global Networks

My tech obsession started at 12 when I modded Skyrim so aggressively it crashed our family PC for a week. Today, I:

  • Argue with Cisco switches that occasionally argue back
  • Secretly judge companies that use default admin passwords (we all do it)
  • Still geek out over Linux terminal commands like it’s magic ✨

Certifications? Yes (CCNA, Security+, etc.). Real superpower? Fixing printers that “just stopped working” for no reason.

🥷 When I’m Not Saving Servers…

You’ll find me:

  • Practicing spin kicks until my legs shake (my Taekwondo instructor says I’m “stubbornly persistent”)
  • Rewatching Gladiator for the 27th time while explaining Roman battle tactics to my very patient wife
  • Brewing coffee so strong it could power a data center ☕
  • Building LEGO castles with my son Alex (current record: 892 pieces before toddler intervention)
  • Playing games like the Elder Scrolls, Civilization, or Kenshi(+100 points if you played this game).

🏡 My Why

My family is my anchor. Challie (my wife) and I bonded over Star Wars marathons, and now we’re raising a tiny human who thinks “router” is a type of dinosaur. Every line of code I write and firewall I configure is about building a future where he can explore safely—online and offline.

🎮 Quirks & Confessions

  • I hate CAPTCHAs. (Aren’t we all robots now?)
  • I cry at the ending of Halo: Reach. Every. Single. Time.
  • My dream project? Designing a cybersecurity game where you defend a virtual Rome 🏛️
  • I speak “Dad German” – fluent in ordering bratwurst, helpless in tax discussions

Let’s Connect!

If you:

  • Want to debate whether SSH is better than Telnet (it is)
  • Need a sparring partner for PowerShell scripts or roundhouse kicks
  • Just really love Roman history.
